For those unfamiliar with his story, Pat Tillman was an NFL player who joined the army after 9/11. He was killed by friendly fire in Iraq and was used as a poster child, representing the “ideal American soldier” aka martyr, by the Republican right. His family, however, is trying to come forward to tell the truth, including his brother, former Anaheim Angel and fellow Gulf War II Veteran Kevin Tillman. In response to allegations by the Tillmans’ that Pat does not support the current administration, that he called the Iraq war “fucking illegal”, and that he read Noam Chomsky, the right responded that they are lying. Ann Coulter, that vacuous plague, the personification of everything wrong with conservatism today, replied that she “doesn’t believe [Tillman’s family]”. The last thing Pat would want is to be used as a tool by the right, and here’s why:
